The hospital occupancy rate for COVID-19 in Baja California is 25.96%, with a total of 98 patients confirmed with this disease and hospitalized in one of the seven units.

According to the Secretary of Health, Alonso Pérez Rico, since the anti-COVID vaccination began in the State, the age range of people arriving to the hospitals due to this disease has changed.

As it will be recalled before, adults over 60 years old were the most affected by this virus, however, Pérez Rico pointed out that since the first of April it was observed that those who are arriving to the health units are more adults from 40 years old and up to 59 years old.

Of the 393 hospitalizations registered from that month until now, 202 correspond to this age range, and 133 to adults over 60 years of age. For their part, from 20 to 39 years of age there have been 55 people, and from 0 to 19 years of age, three.

"Vaccination works, it prevents against moderate or severe modality, buy us time to vaccinate everyone, how can you do it? taking care of yourself", expressed the Secretary.

In addition, he said that while people who test positive for COVID-19, but who do not need to be admitted to a hospital (ambulatory), arrive for consultation 3.5 days after starting with symptoms, those who require hospitalization have reached their first care almost five days (4.8) after presenting symptoms.

The ideal for early care is to see a doctor within the first two days of presenting symptoms, he said.

As of Thursday, there are 383 active cases of coronavirus in Baja California, of which 279 are concentrated in Mexicali, 79 in Tijuana, 13 in Ensenada, eight in San Felipe and four in Tecate.

From yesterday to today, 52 new cases and four more deaths were registered. Twenty-eight of the former belong to Mexicali, 17 to Tijuana, three to Ensenada, three to San Felipe and one to Tecate. Regarding the deaths, the four occurred in the state capital.
