The airline updates their messages on social media, where they posted the passengers and crew´s information, as well as the status of the search operation regarding what could remain of the plane.

AirAsia´s CEO, Sunu Widyatmoko, said in a statement that: "We are deeply impacted and saddened due to this incident. We are cooperating with relevant authorities as much as we can to determine the cause of this incident. Meanwhile, our main priority is to keep our passengers families and colleagues informed about any recent news".
"We will do whatever we can to support them while our investigation is still going and we have already mobilized our support team to satisfy their immediate needs, including accommodation and traveling. An information center for families has also been set up in Surabaya.

He also explained that the finding and rescue operation is under the leadership of the National Agency of Search and Rescue of the Republic of Indonesia (BASARNAS, in Indonesian).
Until now, the majority of the reports suggest that the accident occur do to bad weather conditions, given that there was a presence of electric storm over the Java Sea.
According to the airline, there were 162 people aboard, 155 were passenger and 7 were part of the crew, 157 people were from Indonesia, three from South Korea, one from Singapore, one from the United Kingdom, one from France and from Malaysia.
