Mexico’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Juan Ramón de la Fuente, reported Tuesday afternoon that immigration authorities detained a total of 42 Mexican citizens during raids in Los Angeles, California. Agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) carried out the operations at two specific locations in the city: a textile factory identified as Ambiance and a Home Depot parking lot.
Among the detained nationals, there are 37 men and 5 women. So far, four of them have been deported to Mexico, while the rest remain in custody at various immigration detention centers.

Mexican Consulate Provides Support in Los Angeles
Following the detention of Mexican citizens, the Mexican Consulate in Los Angeles activated emergency protocols to verify the detainees’ health conditions. Consular staff visited detention centers to provide legal assistance and gather information regarding contact with family members.
“The consul is working directly on-site to ensure that our nationals’ rights are respected and that they have access to justice,” De la Fuente said.
The consulate’s response comes amid a new federal order from former U.S. President Donald Trump, who requested the deployment of 2,000 National Guard troops to contain protests sparked by the immigration raids.

Sheinbaum Condemns Violence During Protests
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum condemned the violent acts that occurred during protests in Los Angeles against U.S. immigration policies. During her morning press conference, she specifically denounced the burning of police vehicles, calling it a provocation that does not represent a legitimate form of protest.
“The Mexican government rejects all forms of violence, no matter where it comes from,” Sheinbaum emphasized, calling on U.S. authorities to respect due process and the dignity of migrants.
The Mexican Minister of Foreign Affairs continues to work in coordination with U.S. authorities to ensure a fair legal process.
