Positioning the state as a prime destination for international capital, Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda declared that Baja California is ready to harness emerging investment trends. The governor made the remarks while leading the 2026 Convention of the Global Business Council, a high-level meeting that brought together leaders from 60 multinational corporations to discuss the region’s economic potential.

During the gathering, the governor highlighted the state’s unique position to capitalize on new trends, especially considering that 60% of companies are expected to reinvest in Baja California this year.

“We are the heart of the most dynamic binational economic corridor in the world, directly connected to the largest economic bloc on the planet,” she told the assembled business leaders. “But our strength extends beyond our strategic geography. Our real advantage is our human talent and our innovative capacity, with young professionals ready to step into leadership roles.”

To maintain this edge, the governor outlined a vision of continuous modernization including the advancement of the Otay Mesa II Port of Entry in Tijuana, designed to streamline commercial and passenger traffic, and the Punta Colonet multimodal port, which promises to establish Ensenada as a strategic logistics hub on the Pacific coast.

Furthermore,  the governor awarded the 2026 Sanitary Self-Regulation Badges (PASE) to 64 restaurants and food establishments in Ensenada. Coordinated by COEPRIS BC, the rigorous program audits 63 critical points related to hygiene and safety, aiming to eliminate risky practices and build consumer confidence.

The governor characterized this tool as a strategic alliance between the public and private sectors, fostering a safer and more competitive business environment.

“In a state like ours, a leader in tourism, agri-food production, and hospitality, public trust in our food is as valuable as the sea that embraces us or the vineyards that distinguish us on the world stage,” she said.

Concluding the day’s events, the governor unveiled a commemorative plaque honoring the Museum of Vine and Wine (Museo de la Vid y el Vino). The recognition was bestowed for the museum’s exemplary adherence to sanitary standards and its role in projecting the culture of development that defines the Valle de Guadalupe region.
