The government of Baja California has launched a new operational base for the State Citizen Security Force (FESC) in La Rumorosa, marking a significant step in its strategy to reinforce public safety.

Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda inaugurated the facility, emphasizing its role in protecting local families and the thousands who travel through the mountainous area daily. The governor highlighted La Rumorosa’s strategic importance as a connection point between regions, noting that the new base will enable better interagency coordination, permanent surveillance, and faster emergency response.

“Public security is a continuous task that requires preparation, coordination, and daily work. Every advancement in infrastructure represents an additional tool to fulfill that responsibility,” she said.
The project also represents the first in a planned series of security installations, with future bases slated for San Quintín, San Felipe, and Valle de Guadalupe.

“This police base highlights the commitment of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda to our community, and is the result of a joint effort with Sedena, the Federal Attorney General’s Office, the State Attorney General’s Office, and Municipal Police,” said Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, Secretary of Security for Baja California.
The elite unit Proteo 4-25, a 50-member team trained in high-level tactical and human rights standards, will be stationed at the base and tasked with patrolling the zone.

According to Infrastructure Secretary Arturo Espinoza Jaramillo, the upgraded base is designed to strengthen response capacity by improving working conditions for personnel and enabling more efficient service to the public.
The 3.5-million-peso project involved renovating a two-story building to create functional and secure operational spaces. Facilities now include a reception area, command center, meeting rooms, an infirmary, kitchen, dormitories, restrooms, and holding cells.

Local representative Patricia Gómez voiced community support for the project, describing the base as an important benefit for La Rumorosa that will bring greater peace of mind to area families through a stronger, more visible security presence.
