On November 15, 1951, the President of the Mexico, Miguel Aleman Valdes, sent to Congress the initiative to amend Articles 43 and 45 of the Constitution, in order to transform the territory of Baja California Norte as one of the states that would go by that name in the country.
On December 31 of the same year, the constitutional reform was approved and was published in the Official Journal of the Federation on January 16, 1952.
Baja California is considered one of the most important states to have municipalities that are frequently visited by tourists like Tijuana who host the motto: "Here is where the motherland begins"
