Baja California’s culinary scene has been firmly established on the global gastronomic stage, as local chefs were formally recognized in the prestigious MICHELIN Guide Mexico 2025.
In a ceremony celebrating the state’s culinary excellence, Zaida Luz López, Baja California’s Secretary of Tourism, together with Ignacio Alarcón Rodríguez, President of the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry (CANIRAC), presented the plaques to the honored chefs. The recognition not only highlights individual achievements but also underscores the region’s emergence as a benchmark for innovation and quality in Mexican cuisine.
The event reaffirmed Baja California’s standing as a leading destination for food lovers worldwide, where tradition and creativity continue to shape a vibrant and influential culinary identity.

This marks the second consecutive year the guide has recognized the state, bestowing an impressive array of honors: 5 Red Stars, 4 Green Stars for sustainable gastronomy, 7 Bib Gourmand awards, and 21 restaurant recommendations. This achievement underscores a powerful synergy between the region’s exceptional local produce and the visionary chefs who transform it into world-class dining experiences.
Secretary López emphasized that these awards are more than just accolades; they represent the culmination of personal and family stories, of families committed to the land and the sea, of chefs and their teams who work with dedication every day, and of a community that welcomes visitors with open arms and hospitality.
She further highlighted the broader impact of the MICHELIN Guide’s presence, noting that it positions Baja California internationally as a must-visit gastronomic destination. The positive impact extends far beyond the kitchen, attracting global visitors, strengthening local producers, and creating opportunities across the entire tourism value chain.

The event concluded with recognition from the State Government led by Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, thanking the chefs and teams for their commitment to elevating Baja California’s profile.
The event was also attended by Daniela Mijares Martínez, Vice President of Liaison for CANIRAC; Iván Nolasco, State President of CANIRAC Baja California; as well as representatives from municipal governments and the state tourism sector. The winners of the awards and recommendations are as follows:
