Under the leadership of Governor Marina del Pilar, Baja California has become a reference point for sport fishing in Mexico. This is evident in the “Esto es Pesca” (This is Fishing) program, which will broadcast the region’s potential for fishing tourism and showcase the quality and variety of its seafood products.
Filmed in iconic coastal locations across Baja California, the production captures the region’s marine biodiversity and follows Jorge Acosta’s first fishing experience in the Gulf of California, culminating in his return to the diverse and abundant waters of the Mexican Pacific.

While promoting fishing tourism, the program also shines a spotlight on Baja California’s abundant seafood variety, from prized sportfish to the fresh, top-quality fish and shellfish that play a vital role in the region’s gastronomy.
This project was made possible through the combined efforts of Baja California’s Department of Tourism and the Department of Fishing and Aquaculture, who teamed up to showcase the state’s natural wealth and position it as a national leader in sport fishing tourism.

Attendees at the press conference included Sergio Egozcue Ayala, Director of Tourism Products for Baja California’s Department of Tourism; Luis Manuel Robles Briseño, Director of Fisheries; Víctor Hugo Méndez, Head of Sport Fishing for the Department of Fishing and Aquaculture; and Jorge Alberto Acosta, Host of “Esto es Pesca”, among others.
