The government of Baja California, under Governor Marina del Pilar, continues to take action to address the root causes of violence and improve public safety across the region. During a coordinated operation in Mexicali from July 14 to 19, authorities arrested 31 individuals on the spot and executed three arrest warrants. Several firearms, vehicles, rounds of ammunition, and illegal drugs were also seized.
“These results demonstrate our administration’s commitment to tackling violent crime through coordinated efforts and intelligence-driven operations,” said Governor Marina del Pilar.

The operation was led by Baja California’s Department of Citizen Security in collaboration with federal and municipal agencies. Officers confiscated six firearms—three handguns and three rifles—along with six magazines and 109 rounds of ammunition.
They also recovered four stolen vehicles and impounded eight others connected to criminal activity, bringing the total to 12 vehicles secured.

As part of efforts to curb street-level drug trafficking, the operation resulted in the seizure of approximately 7.4 kilograms of marijuana, 686 grams of methamphetamine, 270 grams of cocaine, 224 grams of heroin, and nearly 3 kilograms of fentanyl—preventing these substances from reaching the streets.
General Leopoldo Tizoc Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, head of the state’s Department of Citizen Security, said all seized items were turned over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for investigation and legal proceedings.

He also highlighted the key role of anonymous citizen tips to the 089 hotline in identifying illegal activity, and urged the public to continue reporting safely and confidentially.

Similar operations will continue throughout the state, with a focus on legality and the safety of Baja California’s communities.
