Condé Nast Traveler released its list of the Top 30 Best Destination Spas in the U.S. & Around the World: 2025, part of its prestigious Readers’ Choice Awards, this Tuesday, October 7th. Among the honorees, two Baja California destinations proudly stood out: Rancho La Puerta in Tecate and Banyan Tree Veya Valle de Guadalupe in Ensenada.
Ranked No. 29, Rancho La Puerta once again earned international recognition as one of the world’s premier wellness retreats. Located just a few miles from the U.S. border, the destination has become synonymous with holistic rejuvenation.
Founded in 1940 by Deborah and Edmond Szekely, Rancho La Puerta offers an array of holistic therapies — including acupuncture, Reiki, and WATSU — as well as massages, facials, body wraps, and more. Many treatments incorporate herbs and plants grown on-site, while the facilities feature jacuzzis, saunas, steam rooms, cold plunges, and serene relaxation areas.

Guests can also enjoy a wide range of activities such as hiking, running, kickboxing, cycling, and yoga. This marks the eighth time Rancho La Puerta has been featured on Condé Nast Traveler’s list, having previously appeared in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023.
Meanwhile, debuting at No. 17, Banyan Tree Veya Valle de Guadalupe made its first-ever appearance in the global ranking. As the first international luxury wellness property in the region, the Banyan Group-owned retreat was designed by renowned architect Michel Rojkind. It features 30 rustic-style pool villas, five restaurants, and an extensive spa program inspired by regional traditions.
