Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda headed an outreach event this week to distribute economic stimulus payments through the state’s Social Inclusion and Non-Discrimination Program, marking a significant step in the administration’s commitment to reaching vulnerable populations throughout Baja California.

The initiative, developed in coordination with the state’s Secretariat of Social Inclusion, will extend across all seven municipalities, beginning in Tijuana and concluding in San Quintín.

“These are more than just financial aids, they represent what people most deserve. “When we took office, we established a clear objective: that no one in Baja California be left behind, whether due to their condition, origin, language, disability, or any other barrier that perpetuates discrimination,” the governor said.

A total of 1,152 economic supports were delivered to individuals from communities that have historically faced discrimination, including indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, and members of the LGBTTTIQA+ community.

Belinda Elizabeth Rodríguez Moreno, head of the Secretariat of Social Inclusion, characterized the resource distribution as an act of social justice, emphasizing that each payment carries the weight of institutional support behind the struggles and aspirations of recipients.

“To our friends joining us today, we want this assistance to serve as momentum for your projects, your health, your homes, and your education, but above all, for your peace of mind and wellbeing. Let us continue building a state where all of us fit with the respect and dignity we deserve,” she said.

The outreach event featured informational stations staffed by various government agencies, providing attendees with guidance and referrals to health services, identity documentation assistance, welfare programs, and pathways to public benefits for those in vulnerable situations.

Magdalena, a Purépecha community member and program beneficiary, expressed gratitude to the governor for recognizing and addressing the needs of her community through this program.

“This inclusion and non-discrimination funding, along with support for our indigenous language interpreters, represents more than a simple figure. It’s a practical tool enabling us to move forward with dignity. It demonstrates that inclusion in Baja California transcends rhetoric and reaches directly those who need it most,” she said.
