The 2026 Holy Week Vacation Operation, titled “Baja California, Have Fun Safely,” officially began in Playas de Rosarito, with simultaneous deployments across all seven municipalities. The operation is led by Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda in coordination with federal, state, and municipal authorities.
With Holy Week representing one of the busiest travel periods in the state and when beaches, highways, and tourist destinations welcome thousands of visitors, the operation aims to ensure the safety, tranquility, and well-being of both Baja Californian families and tourists.

Operational actions include highway patrols, beach surveillance, sobriety checkpoints, tourist assistance modules, and foot and motorcycle patrols in strategic areas.
The operation will deploy 3,529 personnel supported by 1,055 vehicles, 82 traffic motorcycles, 43 shield-type motorcycles, 20 all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), 12 RZR vehicles, 15 bicycles, 20 drones, and 88 additional units.

The Holy Week vacation period runs from March 29 to April 5, while the basic education school break extends from March 30 to April 10. Authorities expect the highest influx of visitors during the holy days from April 2 to 5.

The security strategy is built around five operational axes: coordination, prevention, patrol, community proximity, and road safety, according to Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, Secretary of Citizen Security for the State.
“Building on last year’s experience, we are prepared to welcome national and international tourists,” Carrillo Rodríguez stated. “We will remain attentive to their safety throughout their stay.”
Governor Marina del Pilar noted that the strategy is designed not only to protect lives but also to strengthen community ties, ensuring that visitors to Baja California enjoy a peaceful experience in safe spaces and carry home the best of what the state has to offer.
