In a significant push to widen educational access, Baja California has disbursed more than 18 million pesos in direct financial aid to students through its “Jóvenes Becados” (Youth Scholarship) program. The initiative, administered by the State Youth Institute (Juventud BC), is designed to help upper secondary and university students overcome economic barriers and remain in school.
Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda highlighted the program’s role in safeguarding academic futures.

“I am very proud to deliver this aid. These funds provide a crucial boost, empowering young people to continue their preparation without interruption,” she said.
The investment directly benefits 7,800 students across the state. High school students receive a stipend of 2,000 pesos, while university students are granted 2,500 pesos. This structured support is a cornerstone of the state’s public policy focused on improving school retention rates.

The reach of the JOBEC program is statewide, with recipients hailing from municipalities including Mexicali, Valle de Mexicali, San Felipe, Tecate, Tijuana, Playas de Rosarito, Ensenada, and San Quintín.
Francisco Molina, Director of Juventud BC, encouraged eligible students to watch for the next JOBEC application cycle to continuously expand the support for those committed to academic and personal development.
