Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda has announced that Baja California is officially joining the “National Crusade for Road Safety”, a nationwide initiative designed to prevent accidents, reduce risks, and strengthen safety for everyone on the move.
Representing the state government, Jorge Alberto Gutiérrez Topete, director general of the State Institute for Sustainable Mobility (IMOS), signed the commitment. With this signature, Baja California pledged to take concrete steps to prevent and reduce fatalities and serious injuries resulting from traffic incidents.
A total of 22 states signed the pledge during the Eighth Session of the National Mobility and Road Safety System.

The session was led by Edna Elena Vega Rangel, head of the Secretariat of Agrarian, Territorial, and Urban Development (Sedatu), with participation from the Secretariat of Economy and the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation.
Governor Marina del Pilar emphasized that her administration will work side by side with municipal governments, launching programs and strategies aimed directly at citizens, especially young drivers and passengers.

The initiative focuses on building road awareness among drivers. Through IMOS, special attention will be given to public transportation workers across all service modes, ensuring that passengers can count on safe, reliable rides.
In addition, the goal is to help teenagers develop a stronger sense of road safety before they even get their driver’s license highlighting the real dangers of skipping a seatbelt or picking up a phone behind the wheel.
