The federal “Soy México” campaign officially launches today, August 1, in Baja California, aiming to simplify the process for children of Mexican nationals born in the United States to obtain dual nationality. Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda emphasized that this initiative not only secures the right to identity but also strengthens the bond between binational families and Mexico.
The governor explained that under the program, children born in the U.S. can have their birth certificates registered at Civil Registry offices in Baja California, simplifying and speeding up the process of officially recognizing their Mexican nationality.
“Identity is a right, and it’s the first step toward accessing many others. From the Government of Baja California, and in coordination with the President Claudia Sheinbaum’s administration, we are promoting policies to protect these rights and keep pride in our roots alive,” the governor said.
