Baja California Launches “Very Mexican Friday” to Boost Family Businesses

Officials have unveiled plans for “Very Mexican Friday,” a national campaign set to launch in Baja California, presented this Friday, that is designed to drive consumer support to local family-owned enterprises, artisans, and producers.

The program is a collaborative effort between the federal government, the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services, and Tourism (CONCANACO SERVYTUR), and the National Assembly of Family Businesses (ANEF).

Octavio de la Torre Stéffano, president of CONCANACO SERVYTUR, expressed strong support for the initiative and highlighted its synergy with the existing “Welcome to Baja” brand. He also commended Governor Marina del Pilar for her efforts to promote the state’s unique identity and showcase its producers, aiming to solidify Baja California’s status as a key regional economic player.

The campaign goes beyond mere shopping; it is being promoted as a celebration of community and heritage as it aims to foster state pride and national identity by encouraging residents to consciously consume local every Friday.

What Is “Very Mexican Friday”?

On the last Friday of each month, participating businesses will offer special promotions, discounts, and cultural experiences to customers. These establishments will be easily identifiable by an official window sticker that reads, “A Very Mexican Friday is Lived Here.”

To help consumers find them, each registered business will be listed on a digital map accessible by scanning a QR code. The goal is boost the local economy, create jobs, and promote pride in Mexican products.

How to Participate

For local entrepreneurs, the program represents a significant opportunity. Registration is free and open to micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, including family-run shops, artisans, local producers, and service providers.

Some key dates for this initiative are:
