Baja California Ranks Among Top States for Job Creation in Mexico

The state generated around 20,000 new formal jobs nationwide during the first two months of the year, according to IMSS.

Baja California has positioned itself as one of the leading states in formal job creation during the first two months of 2026, according to Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, citing data from the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS).

The state added 19,999 new jobs affiliated with IMSS in January and February, reflecting strong economic dynamism and reinforcing its status as an attractive hub for investment.

The figure places Baja California fourth nationally in formal employment generation, highlighting its position among the states with the most robust labor market performance.

At the national level, federal authorities reported that total jobs registered with IMSS reached 22,527,854 in the same period. It is the highest ever recorded for the month of February and the fifth-highest total for any month on record.

Governor Marina del Pilar attributed the state’s performance to public policies focused on attracting investment, fostering industrial development, and supporting key productive sectors. These efforts, she noted, have helped expand job opportunities for workers across the region.
