The Baja California government has carried out more than 500,000 targeted interventions aimed at preventing crime and building community peace, following President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo’s national security strategy. The initiatives, spearheaded by Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, are designed to safeguard families, improve neighborhood cohesion, and foster safety for the community.

The state administration, through the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) led by General Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, has recorded over 528,000 direct citizen engagements, placing strong emphasis on social participation and restoring the social fabric in communities.

The wide-ranging program included preventive talks and training sessions, the revitalization of public spaces, and the creation of community murals. The installation of neighborhood alarm buttons was also implemented alongside broad public awareness campaigns.

The government also facilitated sports activities, hosted community connection fairs, and held coordination meetings with various social sectors to ensure a collaborative approach in the seven municipalities.

“Prevention transforms communities when we work close to the people, listening and acting with social responsibility,” Governor Marina del Pilar stated.

Municipalities like Tijuana, Mexicali, and Ensenada saw the highest concentration of activities, with a focus on neighborhoods identified as priority zones due to their social conditions.

The programs engaged multiple segments of society including educational, community, civil, private, and governmental spheres through specialized models focused on children, youth, gender equality, and promoting a culture of lawfulness.
