Baja California Rolls Out Free and Low-Cost Christmas Season Events

Baja California is set to host 27 holiday events that invite communities to gather for music, theater, film and other seasonal activities.

Seeking to bring artistic experiences to residents across the state, the Baja California government, led by Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, announced a lineup of 27 holiday events, either free or low-cost. The program features music, theater, film and dance and aims to encourage family gatherings and broaden access to cultural activities.

The events are designed to strengthen community ties and make the arts available throughout the state, reflecting the administration’s continued support for cultural programming.

In Mexicali, the agenda begins Thursday, December 4, at 6 p.m. with the concert Navidad en Armonía, performed by the Axis Choir and the El Centinela Children’s and Youth Orchestra at CEART’s AUKA Hall. On Sundays, December 7 and 14 at 2 p.m., Parque Laguna México will host a multidisciplinary holiday program for families.

On Wednesday, December 11 at 4 p.m., the Navidad de Colores concert will take place at the State Public Library, featuring the state orchestra and band along with community groups. On Tuesday, December 16 at 7 p.m., the State Music Band will present Luz de Navidad at AUKA Hall.

In Tijuana, Avenida Revolución will host cultural activities with music and contemporary dance on Sunday, December 7. That same day at noon, the OBC and SEM community orchestras will perform Navidad en el Trompo at El Trompo Interactive Museum.

On Sunday, December 14 at 4 p.m., Parque Esperanto will present Cascanueces Navideño y Regalo Sorpresa. On Thursday, December 11 from 5 to 10 p.m., CEART Tijuana will hold Noche de Luz, Tradición y Artes, an evening of music, workshops and the traditional tree lighting. On Saturday, December 20, the Center for Multiservice Programs will host a concert by the Musical Initiation workshops as part of its holiday celebration.

In Ensenada, the play Pastorela Imprevista will be staged on Tuesday, December 9 at 5 p.m. at CEART’s Experimental Forum with a 50-peso admission. On Tuesday, December 16 at 7 p.m., the CEART Aula Magna will host the 2025 Christmas Concert by the Korolkov Foundation with a 250-peso entrance fee.

In Playas de Rosarito, CEART Rosarito will present Navidad por el Mundo on Friday, December 12 at 7 p.m., featuring the OBC and SEM choirs. On Saturday, December 20 at 4 p.m., the Allegro Polyphonic Choir will perform. Additional events include holiday movie screenings, Un Deseo de Navidad and Christmas recitals by the Allegro Academy.

In Tecate, the annual lighting ceremony will take place Thursday, December 11 at 5:30 p.m., followed by El Cascanueces en Rosa performed by Covacha Big Banda.

All events are part of the statewide holiday program designed to expand cultural access and celebrate the season in community settings.
