Brigadier General Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, head of Baja California’s Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSCBC), led a meeting with U.S. authorities aimed at reinforcing bilateral coordination on border security matters.
Held at the C5 command center in Tijuana, the gathering brought together representatives from the U.S. Consulate in Tijuana, alongside senior officials from key federal agencies, including the DEA, FBI, ATF, CBP, among others.
Discussions centered on drug and weapon smuggling, human trafficking, vehicle theft, and the ongoing effort to dismantle transnational criminal organizations.
According to SSCBC officials, 165 individuals have been apprehended through joint operations, 61 of whom were wanted on U.S. arrest warrants and had been attempting to evade justice by taking refuge in Baja California.
In addition, authorities also captured 21 high-risk violent offenders, all linked to a Sinaloa-based criminal network with established operations in Mexicali and its surrounding valley, as well as in Calexico, California, and San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora.
