Baja California is set to bring its acclaimed October Festival to Los Angeles this year. The announcement was made on Wednesday by the state’s Secretary of Culture, Alma Delia Ábrego Ceballos, during a press conference led by Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda.
Baja California and L.A. to Share Culture and Art at the October Festival: Peace Territories
This year’s edition, titled “Territories of Peace,” will be a binational event, with activities spanning both Baja California and Los Angeles. Scheduled to run from October 1 to November 8, 2025, the festival will celebrate the region’s diverse cultural heritage through art, music, dance, theater, and literature.
By creating public spaces across all of Baja California, residents and tourists will be able to enjoy the magic of October Festival, while also building a meaningful cultural bridge with Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles program will kick off on October 11 with an exhibition titled Tacto: Diálogos de separación y unión (Touch: Dialogues of Separation and Union). The collective show, featuring artists from both Baja California and California, will be hosted at the Durón Gallery in SPARC LA from October 11-24. An opening-day panel discussion will include artists Paula García, Bibiana Badía, Stephanie Allespach, Aldo Martínez, and Marjan Vayghan, moderated by guest curator Karen Cordero Reiman.
In an exclusive interview with San Diego Red, Ábrego Ceballos confirmed that a musical band from the United States will also perform in Baja California, leveraging the natural cultural, demographic, and tourist flow between the two regions.

October Festival in Baja California Received UNESCO Certification
The expansion to Los Angeles marks a pivotal moment for the festival, which recently earned a place in a UNESCO international catalog for quality cultural programming. This certification helped pave the way for this international collaboration.
The October Festival: Territories of Peace will feature a wide array of events across the Baja California peninsula aimed at enriching the local cultural landscape and generating employment for artists. A highlight of this year’s program, thanks to a partnership with the prestigious Cervantino Festival, will be a performance by the renowned Veracruz trio, Paquito Cruz.
