The prestigious National Road and Time Trial Cycling Championship is set to return to the competition calendar this October, with Baja California announced as the host for the 2025 event. The championship, which will run from October 23rd to October 25th, marks the revival of the national tournament after a four-year absence.
The decision, backed by the Mexican Cycling Federation (recently recognized by the International Cycling Union – UCI) and the National Commission of Physical Culture and Sports (CONADE), positions Baja California as a central hub for elite cycling.
“We are very happy to announce that the National Road and Time Trial Cycling Championship will be held from October 23rd to 25th in Baja California. We thank the UCI and CONADE for the distinction and trust to hold this competition on Cachanilla soil,” said Laura Marmolejo Toscano, General Director of the state’s Institute of Sports and Physical Culture (INDE BC), adding that the event is supported by Governor Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda, who has promoted sports as a tool for social growth.

The return of the championship is significant for the sport’s development in Mexico. It will provide Mexican cyclists with a crucial opportunity to earn valuable UCI points and compete with international sanctioning. The winners will earn the right to wear the Mexican national jersey in competitions abroad.
CONADE President, Romel Pacheco Marrufo, highlighted the strategic importance of the location. He noted that Baja California’s proximity to Los Angeles, the host city of the 2028 Olympic Games, makes it an ideal spot for both national and international athletes to conduct high-altitude preparation camps.

Bernardo de la Garza, President of the Mexican Cycling Federation, praised the collaborative efforts between the state government and CONADE in bringing the championship to fruition.
“This a very important first step for Mexican cycling to regain its enthusiasm and place in international competitions,” he said.
The 2025 event is expected to gather the nation’s top talent across elite, under-23, and junior categories, including several athletes who have represented Mexico on the world stage. The championship is anticipated to solidify Baja California’s reputation as a premier host for major national and international sporting events.
