The head of the Secretariat of Health, Alonso Perez Rico, confirmed that Baja California will continue next week under the yellow traffic light.

In view of the Spring Break vacations, the Secretary asked not to lower the guard and to continue with hygiene and safety measures to avoid an increase in the number of cases in the state.

As of this Saturday, 344 cases are still active in the region, of which 148 are located in Mexicali, 132 in Tijuana, 28 in Ensenada, 17 in San Quintin, nine in Rosarito, nine in Tecate and one in San Felipe.

On the other hand, hospital occupancy increased slightly compared to the last few days, reaching 9.05% today, with 59 hospitalized patients confirmed with COVID-19 and 28 more intubated.

Regarding the Effective Reproduction Rate (ER), it is 0.61, which means that a person with COVID-19 can infect another person. However, when analyzing this indicator by municipality, Rosarito reports a Rt of 1.2, so here someone confirmed with coronavirus can transmit it to two more people.

So far in the pandemic, 44 thousand 675 Baja Californians have tested positive for COVID-19, while 7 thousand 681 more lost their lives due to this disease. In the last 24 hours 49 new cases and 11 deaths were reported in the state.
