Baja’s Governor Reviews Progress of the New Criminal Justice System

TIJUANA. With the purpose of consolidating the implementation of the New Criminal Justice System in the rest of Baja California's cities, as it has in Mexicali, under the Federal Government coordination squeme, today State Governor Francisco "Kiko" Vega de Lamadrid held a work meeting with the Technical Secretary of the Coordination Council for the Implementation of the Criminal Justice System from the Interior Ministry (SEGOB in Spanish), Dr. María de los Ángeles Fromow Rangel.

Vega de Lamadrid pointed out that Baja California is one of the leading states on this subject and he restated the commitment to continue working decisively and in close manner with the Federation, with the purpose of creating the necessary means for the proper implementation of a system that will benefit all of Baja California.

That being said, he also mentioned that during the meeting projects and diagnosis were presented so that federal authorities had a general view of the city's situation and based on that, they could implement said system this year, which is currently running only in Mexicali.

On her behalf, Fromow Rangel made emphasis on the Baja Government's great will in continuing with applying this new framework, which seeks to bring legal certainty in the judicial processes and offer prompt justice.

She also said that the Technical Secretariat will provide all the necessary support, as well as seeking for funding resources that allow them to comply with this commitment.

Lastly, she added that staff training and profesionalization, as well as the innovation in model aspects has allowed the city to move forward in this form of justice.
