In a move set to significantly enhance foreign trade operations, Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda unveiled the first stage of the new BB Cross Border Logistics facility, a Strategic Customs Facility (RFE) designed to reduce wait times and lower costs for companies.

“In a world where competitiveness depends on speed and adaptability, this facility is an innovative response that places Baja California at the forefront of international trade. It will provide companies with greater operational flexibility, reduced logistical and tax costs, and a secure customs control scheme,” the governor said.

RFE is presented as a leap forward, expanding beyond traditional manufacturing supply chains to handle a diverse range of final consumer products. Governor Marina del Pilar hailed it as a clear success achieved through collaboration between the private sector, government authorities, and the community.

She extended particular recognition to Carlos Bustamante Anchondo, President of BB Cross Border Logistics, and Raymundo Arnaiz of Frasa for their vision and experience developing this project.

“Let it be clear that Baja California is ready to compete at the highest global level. This is a statement of confidence in our future, where the border is a bridge to generate prosperity, open roads, attract investments, and give certainty to those who believe in this noble land,” the governor said.

RFE offers a suite of powerful incentives for businesses, including the ability to store goods for up to two years without paying tariffs and the deferral of tax contributions for the entire duration goods remain within the facility. These advantages, which also include heightened security and overall lower costs, can be combined with Mexico’s existing IMMEX program, allowing companies to maximize benefits from both customs regimes.

For BB Cross Border Logistics President Carlos Bustamante Anchondo, the project’s was created with the vision of strengthening Tijuana as a strategic hub for business, trade, and investment; a link that is key to Mexico’s logistics to the world.

“This facility is set in a context where the national economy depends heavily on foreign trade, where over 80%of Mexico’s exports are destined for the United States, and a significant proportion crosses through Baja California. This means that every container and logistical process directly impacts the competitiveness of the entire country,” he stated.
