Lourdes Ibáñez

The next speaker was Lourdes Ibañez, who addressed the topic of "Technology in Education". She noted that one of the main problems was that both the government and private industry did not understand the technology industry, for which she suggested that a Secretariat for Information Technology should be created. Like Romero, Ibañez said the education system should include technology, so that students could be acquainted with processes and materials in this area in order to create digital entrepreneurs. Also, she suggested for the Undersecretary to be responsible for providing tax incentives, and economic ones to attract foreign investors.

Ramón Toledo

Covering the topic of a "Digital City", Ramon Toledo closed the presentations. He talked about the opportunities in Tijuana regarding the talent that is present in the region, and to support technology because it is the way towards growth, which as an example he mentioned Singapore and other regions of the world, whom with their lack of natural resources, they instead chose to bet on the human capital.

Toledo also mentioned the need to support "startups" from their early beginnings until after presenting the project, in order to turn them into a project that will generate jobs and more resources for the region. Like Lourdes Ibáñez and Guillermo Romero, Ramon Toledo also stressed that the region is not just a haven of labor, since it also had excellent engineers, programmers and administrators who could create regional or local companies that would have global impact.

Alejandro Monraz

It was now time to meet the candidate's responses. The first to speak was Alejandro Monraz, who was open to create a digital, creative and enterprising government if he was to become the next mayor of Tijuana. He said the government should follow the example of citizenship and proposed the creation of a science and technology committee in Tijuana, which would be only the second of its kind nationwide.

Gabriel Quadri

Former presidential candidate, Gabriel Quadri, was present at this event and spoke a few words, where he mentioned that Tijuana had everything needed to become the new leader in Mexico, and encouraged everyone to spread this good news of the region since little was known about it in the center of the country. He added that the success of a country is based on human capital; therefore, government should listen carefully to its citizens and use their requests to create a sustainable and competitive government. He also highlighted the importance for the conservation of the environment, something that was vital to Baja California by the large number of flora and fauna in the region and its beaches.

Kiko Vega y Gabriel Quadri

Kiko Vega

Finally, Kiko Vega thanked everyone for assisting and participation in the event, and accepted that government knew very little of some of the issues discussed at the event, but that these interventions will serve to complement his plan in the new administration. He said that his government would boost the right to internet access, and work to gain and maintain the trust of the people of Baja California.
