It's finally feeling a bit like winter, or at least not unseasonably warm like in January (although that is supposed to change in the next couple of days). But the cooler weather has me savoring only one thing: a dark beer. Normally, I would go for a Porter or a Stout, but, I'll stay with a classic Tijuana brew, the Belgian Black Saison from Border Psycho Brewery, La Belga Sicótica, or Psychotic Belgian.

La Belga Sicótica is a very dark colored Belgian style beer. Little froth on it, with a very Belgian beer typical odor, but, a hint of being a Baja brew. Some other light but accentuated touches of chocolate and clove, and even some red berries. A surprisingly refreshing beer that straggles the border between Belgian Black Saison and Belgian Black Ale.

It is the crown jewel of Border Psycho Brewery and definitely continues to be one of my favorite local productions.

(Apologies to our readers for this late "Beer of the Week" entry. THIS week's entry will be on time, we promise)
