From the novelty of its architecture, its conceptualization, as well as the rescue of some spaces to make it work with innovative ideas, this year's nominees managed to capture the attention from its beginning.
These spaces have appeared with a great punch by being located perhaps unimaginable places for some, but that have gained acceptance when proposing sets where they integrate different disciplines.
This category will be awarded by the editorial team of SanDiegoRed.com based on the characteristics mentioned above, but if you know more emerging projects that you think should be included in our list you can comment them on the Facebook group SanDiegoRed Opinión, and based on the request, those places can win the popular recognition.
1.- Estación Federal (Federal Station)
This is located in one of the most representative neighborhoods of the city of Tijuana, next to the San Ysidro port of entry. Colonia Federal (neighborhood -from where it gets its name)is the project's location, one that rescued an old building to create a space of mixed uses .
From commercial premises, to spaces for co-working with a great design trend, Estación Federal transformed an old enclosure to finally merge it with different cultural activities.
At first glance, it has a great harmony with the design stand out, great murals with local art invade its walls, the urbanism is key and is a reference to the organization of cultural activities.
The project continues in progress, meaning that day by days is perfected, but still has managed to have great acceptance in the community by having already installed companies in their work spaces. Added to that, a very nice café offers people a place to relax.

Cine Tonalá (Tonalá Cinema)
In just a few months since its opening in the city of Tijuana, Cine Tonalá has become a trendy place. A concept that was originally from Colombia and later in Mexico City, where it stands out as a cultural venue, including the projection of good cinema, plays, shows, and a very interesting food proposal.

Cine Tonalá in Tijuana started with the right foot, the minds behind this project have been in charge of bringing to the place the best showings, and bringing different directors closer to the public.
We cannot leave behind the terrace where we can appreciate a unique view of Avenida Revolución, while enjoying a great variety of dishes accompanied by craft beers from the region.
The place has a peculiar design that conserves the structure of the original building, which stands out thanks to its location on the most famous street of Tijuana.

3.-Contenedor Cósmico (Cosmic Container)
Ensenada has a place in this list of nominees and its representative is called "Contenedor Cósmico,"a small place located between the campirano landscape of Maneadero and the South of the city.

For those who do not know the location of Maneadero, this is a delegation of Ensenada, located on the Transpeninsular highway or, to locate it easier, on the road that takes you to the Bufadora.
The particularity of Contenedor Cósmico is its concept, it has a series of containers houses in its interior that go beyond the earthly design, and is fragmented in three phases; The second floor is a reference to the sky while the second level is the Earth, and the third, the Underworld.
In its interior is reflected the artistic intervention, where each space represents a concept, and everything has a reason to be, such as the olive tree that stands out in the center. In addition to that, we can see different figures in the garden, as well as statues and representations of more concepts, including contact with farm animals: Goats, turkeys and hens make the place even more interesting.
Thanks to the demand of visitors, the Contenedor Cósmico has gone from serving only sandwiches to offer a great food proposal consolidated with products from the Maneadero region, one of the most important agricultural areas of Ensenada.
Not only can we find good food, and an interesting conceptual space, but the owners have been given the task of bringing together several breweries to offer their craft beers on the menu, which makes it a place where food, tourism and culture, merge to create a great experience.

4.- Los Nómadas
Why did we pick Los Nómadas? Well, for a simple reason, it is the largest Food Park in the city of Tijuana with more than 20 food options, plus, it has a brewery, all of this in the Santa Fe neighborhood area.

Since its inauguration in 2016, Los Nómadas TJ came to offer a quality service to one of the most populated areas of Tijuana, which lacked spaces like this.
Its design in the form of containers makes each of the food premises a very attractive option for customers. Added to that, a children's area is always ready for the fun of little ones, and a large piece of land is available for parking.
When we attended its inauguration we were able to verify the food proposals, including the opening of new businesses and others already consolidated in the city. Don't doubt that you will definitely find one place according to your taste, this thanks to the great variety of the cuisine.

5.- Hostal Caracol
Hostal Caracol, formerly called Pangea, continued with its activities as the only hostel in the city of Tijuana, where dozens of groups have passed through their facilities, showing the local talent of the city.

It is noteworthy that in this small space one of the most human projects is carried out; we're talking about "Food, Not Bombs", in which a group of people collect food in good condition to cook it and deliver it to people in need.
This space is also open to culture with different manifestations and events, and also acts as a host of workshops.
