TIJUANA Residents and visitors are invited to a series of festivities to mark Tijuanas 122nd anniversary, with a wide range of events beginning Thursday.
The events, announced by the Tijuanas Tourism and Convention Committee, include:
Tijuana Bike Fest, June 30 to July 3, features motorcycle exhibits, acrobatics, concerts and bikini and tattoo contests, among other activities, at the Caliente racetrack. A 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle will be raffled away.
The event is organized by Tijuanas Sólo Ángeles motorcycle club, which has projects to help disadvantaged children. Admission is $4. Events begin at noon each day. Information is available at tijuanabikefest.com.
Caeser Salad Festival, July 2, is a food and beverage festival along the tourist strip of avenida Revolución, between 4th and 5th streets, featuring specialties from popular restaurants, wineries and breweries. The event is from noon to 10 p.m., in front of Hotel Caeser, where the Caeser salad was created. Admission is free. Organized by the association of restaurants.
Festival Ópera en la Calle, July 9, is the eighth annual opera street festival in the Colonia Libertad neighborhood.
The event features music, wine and fine food. Tenor José Luis Duval will close the festivities. Free admission.
TJ Beer Fest, July 15 to 16, features beer tasting of more than 150 brands, as well as performances by Tijuana guitarist Javier Bátiz and Pedro Beas (Hiperboreal) from the Colectivo Nortec, among other activities. Admission is free; a glass of beer costs about $2.
