Brazilian side Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras better known as just Palmeiras will be Club Tijuana's rival in the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores.

This information has come through with the conclusion of the group stage of said competition, where the Xolos finished as the best among the second place teams in the number nine seed and Palmeiras finished as the worst of the first place teams in the number eight seed.

Based in São Paulo in Brazil, Palmeiras finished at the top of group two with nine points barely topping Tigre of Argentina. This has the Brazilians in the eight seed, worst among all first place finishers.

The Xoloitzcuitles finished in second place in group five with 13 points, same amount of points SC Corinthians of Brazil. But the difference in goals scored/allowed gave the edge to the Brazilian club. Xolos were now left as the best team among those who finished second place and in the nine seed.

Xolos won all of their home games and managed a draw in Bolivia and a win in Colombia. Palmeiras meanwhile, lost all of their away games and did not manage to score a single goal in those games.

Round of 16 matches will take place between April 23 and May 2 with home and away matches for all. Xolos will host the first leg while Palmeiras will have the return leg in Brazil.
