California has launched a new online platform for residents to report abuses by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), including excessive force, arbitrary detention and other alleged misconduct.
The tool, unveiled by state Attorney General Rob Bonta, allows individuals to upload videos, photos and other documentation to support reports of incidents witnessed in their communities. State officials say the platform is intended to strengthen oversight of federal immigration enforcement, safeguard vulnerable populations and streamline the collection of potential evidence.
The initiative comes amid heightened public concern over frequent immigration raids and enforcement practices shaped during the Trump administration.
Although California has long positioned itself as a pro-immigrant state, it is not the first to create such a mechanism. New York, Illinois and several other states have already established similar reporting channels for documenting potential misconduct by federal immigration agents.
