Camp Alongside Bears and Big Cats in Alpine

The Lions Tigers & Bears sanctuary opens its grounds for camping only once a year, making spaces highly limited.

For one weekend only, San Diegans have the chance to fall asleep to the sounds of roaring lions and wake up beside bears at a unique “Spooky Campover & Pumpkin Bash” hosted by the Lions Tigers & Bears sanctuary.

The annual event, set for October 24th, is the only time all year the animal rescue organization opens its grounds for an overnight experience, making tickets a highly coveted commodity.

Attendees will have the chance to camp just a few feet away from the animals, offering a unique opportunity to fall asleep to the sounds of the wild.

The weekend of festivities begins on Friday evening with family-friendly activities including pumpkin carving, a haunted house suitable for all ages, a costume contest, and warm campfires. Adults can retreat to the Spooky bar for a selection of seasonal cocktails.

A Night Under the Stars

Participants will be able to cook, dine, and sleep under the stars, surrounded by the powerful roars of the sanctuary’s resident lions. It will be an unforgettable night under the stars.

The highlight of the morning will be the Pumpkin Bash, where guests can watch big felines and other animals delight in specially prepared pumpkins stuffed with treats.

Limited Availability

Spaces for the campover are extremely limited due to the sanctuary’s policy of hosting just one public overnight event per year. Reservations are required and can be made through the organization’s website, lionstigersandbears.org, or by calling 619-659-8078.

The event operates on a donation basis to support the sanctuary’s mission. Pricing is set at $50 for adult members and $35 for child members, while non-members are asked for a donation of $80 per adult and $55 per child.
