TIJUANA – Look who's been here.

That's the message of new public photographic exhibit, whose goal is to communicate that the city is safe to visit.

The exhibit is made up of images of national and international figures who have visited Tijuana. They include Nobel laureates Al Gore and Mario Molina and TV personality Larry King, all of whom spoke at an innovation conference in October of 2010.

Others pictured are Mexican writer Carlos Monsivaís; novelist Fabienne Bradu and Marcel Marceau, both from France; and singers Joan Manuel Serrat, from Spain; and Omara Portuondo, from Cuba.

The exhibit is part of the 30th anniversary celebration of the Centro Cultural Tijuana, and was funded by the center and the business sector. The large images will be displayed in strategic locations across the city, beginning at the center itself, where a photo of Mexican writer Sergio Pitol can be seen.

"Al Gore was in Tijuana and he returned to his home without a problem," said Virgilio Muñoz, the center's director. "The same is true with all the others who we will highlight."

He said these visits are significant because the U.S. government had recommended avoiding certain Mexican cities, including Tijuana, when they occurred.

The images will be displayed in the financial district of the Río zone, Avenida Revolución, Auditorio Municipal, and on the campus of the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California.
