A new attraction has joined the spring season at The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch with the opening of the Butterfly Encounter, an interactive greenhouse where visitors can mingle with hundreds of live butterflies.
The experience allows guests to enter an enclosed space filled with butterflies of various species. During the visit, participants receive a small nectar stick to attract and feed the butterflies as they flutter around.
An immersive butterfly experience
The Butterfly Encounter is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. during the Flower Fields’ seasonal run. Admission is $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 3 to 10, while children under three can enter free. Tickets are purchased on-site and only card payments are accepted.

Spring among millions of flowers
The attraction is part of the broader spring experience at The Flower Fields in Carlsbad, known for its expansive, colorful flower fields that draw thousands of visitors each year.
