As one of Southern California’s most cherished landmarks, The Flower Fields has added another accolade to its legacy just before gearing up for its next opening.
The site was named a winner in the “Classic Western Experiences” category at Sunset magazine’s 2026 Travel Awards, a designation celebrating the most iconic destinations across the American West. Celebrating the achievement, The Flower Fields credited the tireless work of local farmers, staff, guides, and dedicated visitors who make each blooming season a success.
The Flower Fields Is Closed but Has a Set Return Date
Those eager to wander among the colorful flowers will need to hold off a bit longer, though a return date is already on the calendar. The venue is currently closed for its standard off-season but is reopen on March 1, 2027.
Each spring, guests can expect a spectacular display featuring an estimated 80 million flowers across the landscape. Beyond the panoramic photo ops, the venue offers curated display gardens and a rotating lineup of seasonal activities.

Located at 5704 Paseo Del Norte in northern San Diego County, the farm remains a top choice for a spring day trip. Ticket prices begin at $17, with rates varying based on pass type and visiting dates.
Though the vivid rows of flowers remain off-limits for now, the countdown to spring is officially underway and Carlsbad is preparing for another unforgettable season come March 1, 2027.
