Though summer is a few days away, the current weather doesn’t show it. However, this region has been special because other regions in the country have been experiencing an intense heatwave for the last few days. Regarding these temperatures, meteorologist Mario Picazo has made a prediction about weather in Mexico.
Picazo on his Twitter account warned about the intensity impact that the weather phenomenon known as “El Niño” will have in the world; due to current situation in the seas of the world, this year could experience a greater intensity to the one that occurred 41 years ago.
In 1982, one of the most intense “El Niño” phenomena occurred, and according to Picazo, this year could equal or even exceed in intensity the one that happened 41 years ago; this will result in droughts, floods, forest fires, and heatwaves.
The renowned meteorologist compared two satellite images where one can observe sea temperatures. One is from June 11, 1982 and the other one is from June 11, 2023; the difference is that in the current pictures, seas are warmer. Mario claimed that this “has a great impact on the planet’s weather and species that inhabit it, including humans”.
