The Tijuana Tourism and Conventions Committee (Cotuco) has announced the return of the 2nd International Guitar Festival in Baja California (FIGBA), set to take place from August 28 to 30 at the State Center for the Arts (CEART) in Playas de Rosarito, featuring a free program for students, musicians, and the general public.
During a press conference, Cotuco’s Binational Liaison Manager, Enrique Rangel Rodríguez, emphasized the festival’s role in strengthening the region’s cultural and artistic landscape.
“Events like this elevate Baja California’s cultural offerings while driving visitor traffic and showcasing the artistic talent we have in our region,” he said.

Marco Antonio Nuño Sánchez, coordinator of CEART Playas de Rosarito, said that this event will bring together renowned performers and specialists in classical guitar from Mexico and the United States, with a schedule featuring recitals, master classes, and conferences.
“This is a valuable opportunity to connect the public with world-class performers while fostering educational spaces where music lovers can learn and engage,” he noted.
The festival kicks off on August 28 with a lecture titled “Hermeneutics and Rhetoric of Instrumental Performance,” followed by master classes led by American classical guitarist Jack Cimo and Mexican guitarist Daniel Olmos. The opening day will conclude with a recital by Cimo.

On August 29, the schedule continues with additional master classes during the day, culminating in an evening concert by A Due Corde, a cello and guitar ensemble.
The final day, August 30, features a practical session on “Social Networks for Musicians,” presented by Alejandro González and Laura Rodríguez of Encordando. The festival will close with a guitar recital by Daniel Olmos, presented in collaboration with the National Coordination of Music and Opera.

The festival also boasts participation from a distinguished roster of guitarists, including American classical guitarist Jack Cimo, Mexican guitarist Daniel Olmos, and Carlos Castro and Justo Contreras from Tijuana, alongside other notable performers who will share their expertise with attendees.
Nuño Sánchez extended a special invitation to residents on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border to attend the 2nd International Guitar Festival in Baja California from August 28 to August 30 with a free admission at CEART Playas de Rosarito.
Also present at the press conference were Saúl Álvarez Rojas, director of Cotuco Rosarito, and Francisco Castañeda, coordinator of the 2nd International Guitar Festival in Baja California.
