Pedro Ochoa Palacio, Director of the Centro Cultural Tijuana (CECUT), and part of the National Council for Arts and Culture, thanked the recognition made by the Hernán Becerra Pino Foundation when he received the National 'Pakal de Oro' Award in the category of Northen Border Interculturality, thanks to the impact of the cultural work being carried out in Tijuana. The event took place at the Wilberto Cantón Theater, part of Mexico's General Society of Writers.
During his thank you speech, Ochoa Palacio quoted Mexican writer Carlos Fuentes saying that: "Mexican migration into the U.S is algo a cultural migration, where there is not only reproduction but an enrichment of artistic expressions and, if we believe the numbers, this is a migration that has a lot of weight, it screams and works, creating extraordinary cultural manifestations."
"I thank you on behalf of CECUT, an institution with a very professional staff that has allowed the launch of cultural development over the last three years, as well as a diverse and heterogenous community, which demands spaces for participation and that we get to organize and carry out; I am convinced that this cultural work is thanks to the artistic community; in the case of Tijuana we also work on the demands and offer of the Mexican community in Southern California," expressed the director.
