Recognized as the largest gastronomic event in Baja California Sur, La Pazión por el Sabor is returning for its 13th edition. This year, CANIRAC La Paz extended a special invitation to CANIRAC and COTUCO Rosarito to participate as the honored guest municipality. In response, renowned traditional chef Josefina Sánchez will represent the flavors of Baja California in the neighboring state of Baja California Sur.
A press conference was held with remarks from several key figures, including Iran Leonardo Verdugo of the Secretariat of Economic Development and Tourism of Playas de Rosarito, CANIRAC La Paz advisor Luis Aguilar, CANIRAC La Paz Delegate President David García, CANIRAC Rosarito director Mónica Ramírez, as well as chef Josefina Sánchez and public relations officials.
The event is scheduled for May 29 at Paraíso del Mar. Over 130 restaurants, local producers, wineries, and craft breweries will come together to offer an exquisite experience full of flavor and good cheer. The evening will also feature a performance by the iconic group Kabah, creating an atmosphere filled with nostalgia and great music.
Chef Josefina Sánchez expressed her excitement about the trip, noting that while her cooking has already crossed borders, this journey to La Paz holds special meaning as she promotes the cuisine of Rosarito.
“We’re bringing our rich and iconic carnitas, which will be celebrating nearly 65 years next year,” she said. “Also our delicious lamb, a little tuna tostada, and perhaps a surprise.”
She added what a true honor it is to represent her municipality and the entire state of Baja California. CANIRAC Rosarito echoed the sentiment, stating that the opportunity is a crucial pillar of the chamber’s work, helping to showcase the diverse culinary offerings of local restaurateurs.
