Parents Daniel Almeyda and Katia Valdivia have traveled across Mexico doing what they love most: performing circus arts, primarily juggling at traffic intersections and events, all to support their daughter’s education and eventually make their dream of starting their own circus a reality.
Daniel Almeyda, from León, has been practicing circus arts for 10 years. He shared that he initially took up the craft as a hobby, but after the birth of his daughter, he fully committed to the profession, seeking work at events and street intersections.
“Near my home, some kids used to practice, and it caught my attention. Little by little, I got better at it. But when my daughter was born, I fully dedicated myself to finding work at events and traffic lights, mainly focusing on juggling,” Daniel said.
He mentioned that after meeting his wife, he began teaching her circus arts until they developed the skills needed to perform as a team.
Together, they have traveled to different cities, covering nearly all of Mexico’s border regions, until they settled in Tijuana a year ago. They found good opportunities to work here while also ensuring their daughter’s academic education.
“Here in Tijuana, things have gone really well for us. It’s the largest border city, the weather is pleasant, and we liked it—so we enrolled our daughter in school here. We’re from León, and before, we had her there, so we were constantly going back and forth,” he explained.
Daniel emphasized that they love their work and dream of one day starting their own circus. However, as parents, their primary motivation is supporting their daughter’s education and covering daily expenses.
