The Tijuana city government, led by Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruíz, is moving ahead with its “Tijuana: Clean City” initiative through a new round of cleanup and neighborhood improvement efforts that reached more than 2,500 residents this week.

Coordinated work across three areas of the city, San Antonio de los Buenos, Playas de Tijuana, and Downtown, resulted in the removal of more than 15 tons of debris, along with road repairs, lighting upgrades, and drainage improvements.

The effort began in the Valle Sur neighborhood of San Antonio de los Buenos, where city crews cleared 10 tons of bulky trash and six cubic meters of construction debris that had been blocking a storm drain. Crews also worked across a 600-square-meter area, repaired 10 streetlights, and trimmed perimeter trees, improving conditions for about 500 residents.

Work then moved to Lázaro Cárdenas Third Section in Playas de Tijuana. Along Agustín Melgar Street, teams graded roughly 1,000 square meters of roadway and removed five tons of discarded items. Crews also replaced five outdated streetlights with energy-efficient LED fixtures, benefiting more than 1,000 people in the area.

The final phase took place in the Laderas de Monterrey neighborhood downtown, where crews resurfaced a 400-square-meter section of Loma Larga Street with fresh asphalt. Additional repairs to five streetlights on Tulipán and Gladiola streets improved visibility and safety for an estimated 1,000 residents.
