Citywide Cleanups and Repairs Transform Public Spaces, Benefiting 18,000 in Tijuana

Mayor Ismael Burgueño’s “Clean City” program is restoring abandoned and affected public spaces, creating cleaner and safer neighborhoods for the community.

Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz of Tijuana continues advancing the “Tijuana: Clean City” program, a citywide effort to improve the urban environment and restore dignity to public spaces.

On Monday, Adriana Barrera Hernández, acting head of the Delegation Coordination Office, led supervision tours in the San Antonio de los Buenos, Playas, and Downtown delegations. The efforts carried out are already yielding concrete results, directly benefiting more than 17,500 residents.

In the San Antonio de los Buenos Delegation, work focused on Santa Fe Boulevard, from Roma Street to Paseo Alicante. Councilmember Pablo Yáñez and Delegate Guadalupe Notario verified the cleaning of 2,225 feet (0.42 miles) of the shoulder lane and the weeding of 1,150 feet (0.22 miles) of the central alley, improvements that benefit more than 15,000 people.

In Playas de Tijuana, Councilmember Michel García Arceo and Delegate Alejandro Ibarra supervised work on Esperanza Street in the El Soler neighborhood, where 21,500 square feet (about half an acre) were graded, 5,400 square feet were cleaned, and five tons of waste were removed, enhancing conditions for over 1,500 residents.

Meanwhile, in the Downtown Delegation, Councilmember Mónica Padilla and Delegate José Luis Portillo oversaw cleanup efforts on Campeche Street in the México neighborhood, where 10 tons of heavy debris from a damaged home were collected and removed. This action allowed the area to be reclaimed and eliminated potential risks for citizens.

In addition, asphalt pothole repairs covering 86,000 square feet (about two acres) were launched, improving road conditions for more than 1,000 residents in the area.

Through these actions, the Tijuana government reaffirms its commitment to delivering efficient public services and working every day to build a cleaner, more orderly, and safer city for all.
