Baja California Congressman Ramón Vázquez took a moment on International Police Day to recognize the dedication and bravery of the state’s active and retired officers, highlighting their role as the first line of protection for local communities.
Speaking in Mexicali, Vázquez noted the recent graduation of 23 municipal police cadets as a reminder of the importance of public safety work.
“In this era of transformation, I want to recognize their bravery and vocation for being the first line of protection and guardians of our safety,” he said.
Vázquez also pointed to steps the state has taken to improve police careers, including a historic budget to secure officers’ social benefits and, for the first time in Baja California, formal recognition of professional rights for all police corporations. He credited these efforts to coordinated policies led by President Claudia Sheinbaum and Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila.
Acknowledging the challenges and stigma that often come with police work, the congressman urged fellow lawmakers and the public to continue supporting officers and ensuring their protection and well-being even after retirement.
“Honor to those who have fallen in the line of duty; recognition and congratulations to retired and active police officers. Thank you,” he concluded.
