Baja California showed a decrease in active cases, going from 350 to 297 as of Tuesday morning, thanks to the fact that all municipalities dropped their active cases.
However, authorities were concerned since the Effective Reproduction Rate (ER) of this virus continues with upward trends, gaining ground in four of the six municipalities in the state, which have an ER above one, meaning that one person with COVID-19 can infect two more in those localities.
These municipalities are: San Quintin with an ER of 1.27, Rosarito with 1.12, Tecate with 1.04 and Tijuana with one. The rest of the municipalities, although below one, are likely to increase the figure for this indicator.
In general, Baja California has an ER of 0.94 as of yesterday, so it is clear that it could increase to one at any time. "It is a critical indicator of punctual follow-up by the federation and the territory," said the Secretary of Health, Alonso Perez Rico.
Because of this, authorities continue to urge the population not to fail to carry out preventive measures.
According to Perez Rico's report, there are already 44 thousand 214 Baja Californians who have tested positive for COVID-19, in addition to 7 thousand 584 who have, unfortunately, lost their lives.
