"In agreement with the announcement made effective on July 1st by President Barack Obama, today the United States and Cuba have reestablished diplomatic relations" could be read in a statement issued by the United States' Embassy, where they talked about reopening their headquarters in La Habana.

On their behalf, the Cuban Embassy in Washington raised their flag among politicians, activists and diplomats: Minister of Cuba's Foreign Relations, Bruno Rodriguez, attended the event alongside Secretary of State John Kerry and Ramon Sanchez Pardo, as First Chief of Cuba's Interest Section.
Cuban singer song writter, Silvio Rodriguez, historian Eusebio Leal and some scientist, business men and outstanding cuban workers were also present.
The statement also detailed that John Kerry will be soon be traveling to Cuba to perform a similar act in the US Embassy, where the American flag will be raised in the same manner, although at the time being, there isn't an exact date for said event.
"During the next weeks details regarding the reopening ceremony will be revealed," concluded the statement.
