LA HABANA.- Due to an agreement of the State Council, it has been informed that Cuba will pardon 3,522 inmates due to Pope Francis' visit to the island.
The State Council of the Republic of Cuba agreed to pardon 3,522 sentenced people, the same way they have done when other Popes have visited the country. However, the nature of the event on which these people where sentenced will be taken into account for their release, as well as their behavior while imprisonment, time sentence and health conditions, as is was explained by journal Granma.
During the next 72 hours, pardon will become effective among the following inmates:
Older than 60
Under 20 with no criminal record
Chronically ill
Women
Inmates about to receive parole in 2016
Foreigners (only of the country of origin allows repatriation)
Those who weren't included due to humanitarian reasons, are accused of the following crimes:
Murder
Homicide
Rape
Violent pederasty
Corruption of minors
Theft and illegal sacrifice of kettle
Drug Trafficking
Theft with violence and people intimidation
Crimes against State Security
It was also indicated that the necessary measures for social insertion will be taken, such as a medical attention who those who need it, while in the case of foreigners, said measures will be taken due to their definite exit, on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in coordination with the diplomatic representations credited in Cuba with countries who citizens were pardoned.
