Up until this morning Jorge Burgos, Chile's First Interior Minister, informed that the number of deaths has reached 8, while one person has been reported as missing,three of these deceased were reported this morning, two belong to the region of Coquimbo who passed away due to a motorcycle accident and a rock avalanche, while the other one occurred in Valparaiso due to a heart attack. Now this death poll has increased up to 11.

At the moment, the tsunami alarm was lifted at dawn throughout the whole country, according to the National Emergency Office (Onemi), which is why people living near the coast may return to their homes.

The most affected region by the earthquake and tsunami was Coquimbo, while the province of Choapa, where the earthquake's epicenter was located, in now on military command under General Schakif Nazal's control, given that the area was designated as a catastrophe zone, as mentioned by Mahmud Aleuy, Undersecretary of Interior.

"This is the sixth most strongest earthquake in the history of Chile and the strongest one of 2015 worldwide."
