In a coordinated effort to guarantee safe environments for the city’s children, officials from DIF Tijuana, the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), and the State DIF System have completed a two-day inspection tour of multiple childcare facilities.
The initiative underscores a key priority for Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz of Tijuana, whose administration is focused on safeguarding the physical and emotional well-being of children. The inspections aimed to verify that buildings designated for childcare meet all necessary structural and operational standards to support healthy development.
According to Paola Leyva Izaguirre, director of the agency, a total of ten properties owned by the municipal and state governments were evaluated. The joint assessment, conducted with federal and state authorities, will determine the feasibility of using these sites for future national childcare programs.
This collaborative work reaffirms a shared commitment by state and federal authorities to join efforts for the benefit of Tijuana’s children and families.
“With these actions, the Tijuana City Hall reaffirms that the well-being of girls and boys is and will continue to be our greatest responsibility,” she emphasized.
The inspection team included Mavis Ávila Olmeda, President of the Baja California DIF System; Diana Pérez Álvarez, Director General of the Baja California DIF System; Elisa Gutiérrez García, Head of the Architectural Models Division of the National IMSS Daycare Service; Hugo Franco Aguilar, Head of the Expansion Division of the National IMSS Daycare Service; and Briza Bentley, Coastal Zone Delegate of the Baja California DIF System.
