Police in Tijuana responded to a report of narcotics discovered inside a vehicle in the Dorado area of Playas de Tijuana, tied to the smuggling tactic known as the “blind mule.”

The driver told officers that unknown individuals had placed three large black bags in the trunk of his car without his knowledge. Suspicious of the contents, he removed the bags and left them on the street before alerting authorities.

When officers inspected the packages, they found a total of 56 bundles distributed across the three bags, along with three GPS tracking devices.

The evidence was turned over to the Federal Attorney General’s Office (FGR) for further investigation.

Municipal authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant against this type of crime, recommending routine checks of vehicles, avoiding poorly lit or unattended parking areas, and reporting any suspicious items immediately through 911 or the municipal safety app.
