
This year, the binational seminar: "Efficient Border: A Globally Competitive Region" was held June 3rd seeking to meet two main recommendations that emerged from the 2013 event:
1) Explore various ways to make the Border Liaison Mechanism San Diego – Tijuana, which is led by the Consuls General of Mexico in San Diego and the U.S.'s in Tijuana, become the voice of the actors of the region for the U.S. – Mexico Alliance relative to the 21st Century's Border Administration; and
2) To summon a forum to discuss and promote the issue of wait times at the border to become a local, state and national priority. By extending the circle of participants in this forum to include staff from the offices of legislators and private sector actors.

Jack Dale, president of the SANDAG Board, welcomed those present, giving the floor to Maria de los Remedios Gomez Arnau, Consul General of Mexico in San Diego, who led a brief speech in which she stressed the importance of this type of events to promote not only regional development, but America's as well.
